I've been working hard at the formatting and cutting for Spanish Tragedy. 
I think I'm getting a little bit obsessed.

For the formatting, I've gotten completely immersed in comparing punctuation and scansion interpretations between different editions.  It's like every time I find something cool, there's two more things right after it.  For the ( Read more... )

The more I dig into the research for this show, the more there is to read!

I have three main stacks of books:

1.  The historical/scientific/biographical research.
2.  The Brechtian theory/style/influences.
3.  The modern day application of the theory.

Rehearsal for Galileo started yesterday.
The first day of rehearsal is my favorite day ever!!!

It was all dramaturgy, all night. 
Character histories, pronunciations.  Today it's movement (viewpoints and margolis brown) and then scientific principles and thematic metaphor.

Today I'm spending the afternoon with 18 3rd graders.  At first glance that sounds horrible, but these are a particularly good group, so it's actually quite fun.

Then I've got a meeting with my artist co-ordinators for the Pageant.  We're exploring a new element of artistic performance this year, live painting.  I'm excited to see how that ( Read more... )
